Cara and Nick’s St. Alphonsus and Chicago Blackstone Hotel wedding was filled with joy! Cara and Nick first met with me 13 months before their wedding. They were thrilled to be planning a romantic summer affair in downtown Chicago. Celebrating with their close friends and family was a top priority! In Cara’s words – “we wanted to throw the best party our guests would ever go to!”
Cara and Nick loved a natural, bright style of photography. Candid photos that captured the excitement of their wedding day were important. And while they wanted photos that highlighted downtown Chicago, they also hoped for pictures with greenery and natural sunlight.
Finally, Cara and Nick wanted to spend as much time with their loved ones as possible!
I collaborated with Cara and Nick to create their ideal timeline. Every wedding and couple is different. I always learn what my couples prioritize and help them plan their ideal day! We included time for a first look, bride and groom portraits, wedding party portraits, and portraits with family.
We chose Grant Park for nature photos, and the bridge on Balbo Drive for skyline pictures. And of course we took advantage of the elegant blue doors at St. Alphonsus!
Getting ready took place at the Blackstone Hotel. Cara, her mom, and her bridesmaids had a peaceful, intimate setting for hair and makeup, getting dressed, and toasting champagne. After a sweet first look with Dad, then with Nick, we took portraits and hopped on the trolley to get these two married!
Chicago is full of gorgeous, historic churches. St. Alphonsus in Lakeview is one of my favorites! They said “I do,” then got their party started at The Blackstone. Blush and ivory floral arrangements, warm candlelight, and gold accents were the perfect touch to The Blackstone’s dreamy Crystal Ballroom.
After heartfelt toasts and a delicious dinner, Cara and Nick danced the night away with their people! It was the perfect end to a classic summer wedding.
