When the weather warms up and we have sunny summer evenings, you can often find me taking Chicago engagement photos at Olive Park. Cathy and Dan had GORGEOUS light for their mini engagement session downtown. After meeting in college, these two lost touch. They reconnected by chance at a bar in River North several years later. They danced the night away and knew this was the start of something special. Four years later, on a fall evening on the Amalfi Coast, Dan proposed to Cathy and she said yes!
A mini engagement session is a great way for busy couples to get comfortable in front of the camera without taking up too much time. Getting experience with taking pictures is important for feeling confident in your wedding day portraits. But when you’re wedding planning, you suddenly have a whole new set of to-do’s!
Scheduling a mini engagement session allows you to save time. You’ll feel at ease with picture taking, and have cute new portraits for your save the dates. For Cathy and Dan, who travel frequently, this gave them a chance to connect with their photographer and have fun in front of the camera.
After taking in the golden hour glow across the Chicago skyline, Cathy and Dan warmed up in front of the camera with some beautiful, classic portraits together.
Then we had time for romantic, candid pictures and some quiet, intimate moments too. Aren’t they stunning?!
They dressed their best (always encouraged for engagement photos!) and ended the evening with a dinner date in the Gold Coast. A relaxing break from wedding planning, I’m sure! These two will say I do at the University Club this summer. It was so fun to kick off their photography experience with Chicago engagement photos at Olive Park!
